Autonomous Tractors will change the future of food production. Mahindra, as the largest tractor producer in the world, intends to play a pioneering role.

NEW DELHI: Mahindra & Mahindra plans to play a “pioneering role” in autonomous vehicles, but the efforts will be led through tractors, chairman Anand Mahindra has said.

“Tractors that operate autonomously could change the future of food production. This is an area where Mahindra, as the largest tractor producer in the world, intends to play a pioneering role,” he said while addressing the company’s AGM here.

Mahindra said he had raised the issue at the company’s management board meetings. ” … , I have stressed, in the recent past, that using the strength of our telematics skills in the larger Mahindra Group, we must focus strongly on developing autonomous, driverless commercial vehicles. Elon Musk’s recent new plans support that approach.” – TheTimesofIndia

Mahindra is not the only company that is pioneering autonomous tractor. Current Leading Manufacturers in manufacturers are John Deere, Autonomous Tractor Corporation, Fendt and Case IH.
