Lyft To Offer On-Demand Ride Services in Malaysia

Lyft, a US-based ride-sharing application, plans to start its independent operation in Malaysia.

The No 2 ride on-demand services firm after Uber already has a presence in Malaysia via an existing partnership with Grab.

Lyft has expressed interest to have its own standalone operation by year-end, sources close to the development told The Malaysian Reserve (TMR).

Valued at US$5.5 billion (RM23.09 billion), Lyft ride-sharing services are available in over 240 cities worldwide. It has expanded at a rapid pace compared to only 60 cities early last year.

The ride-sharing operator is also operating via partnerships in Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.

As of March this year, Lyft had 315,000 active drivers who performed seven million rides a month and serviced five million active passengers in the US. TheMalaysianReserve
