onTime™ Commute App Makes Finding Commuter Rail Schedules Fast and Easy in Cities

STONY BROOK, N.Y.March 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Understanding the schedules for the nation’s busiest commuter rails is no longer an exercise in frustration, thanks to a new commuter app from Mobileware, onTime™ Commute. onTime™ Commute is a new and improved all-in-one free app based on a collection of smart, intuitive apps for each city.

The onTime™ apps for iPhone and iPad are among the most popular and highly rated commuter apps for mass transit systems like the Metro-North Railroad, Chicago Metra, Long Island Rail Road and the New Jersey Transit.  Collectively, Mobileware’s commuter rail apps have been reviewed over 5,100 times, achieving an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5.

New York Times technology columnist David Pogue called the app “Beautiful, efficient, time-saving and free.”

With the new all-in-one free onTime™ Commute App, it provides schedules and real-time updates to 14 more heavily traveled commuter rails systems including Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), Boston Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, among others.

For too long, traveling by commuter rail meant carrying around a paper schedule and attempting to make sense of its maps and tiny print. Given that transit systems frequently switch up routes or add/remove trains, these schedules become dated quickly. Mobileware’s onTime™ Commute solves this issue, giving commuters simplicity and helping them to be “on time,” every time.

When users first launch onTime™ Commute, the app asks for the home and work stations that are part of the daily commute. The app then automatically shows when the next train for that route is arriving, alongside relevant details like total duration and number of intermediate stops by simply opening the app.  The new app also includes convenient features such as custom alarms, notifications for delays and outages, local weather and map information.

Early user reviews of onTime™ Commute have been no less encouraging. “I like the direction that onTime is going by having everything consolidated into one application, and then the user selects the rail provider,” remarks one satisfied user.

Mobileware continues to improve and enhance its commuter rail apps with new, practical features. Additional commuter rails and transit systems will be added to make commuting easy.
