P2P Ride sharing Startup Arcade City Launches Mobile App in 155 Countries ride hailing platform Uber Grab Lyft

Driver-owned company expands its successful peer-to-peer ride-sharing model around the world

AUSTIN, TexasAug. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Ridesharing company Arcade City launched its mobile app this week to the Apple and Android app stores, now available in 155 countries.

Arcade City has provided reliable city-wide transportation in Austin, TX for the past fourteen months and now expands its innovative model around the world.

P2P Ride-sharing Model

Arcade City embraces a new peer-to-peer model of ride-sharing. Instead of controlling drivers from a corporate headquarters, Arcade City frees drivers to build up their own transportation businesses like true entrepreneurs.

Drivers are free to set their own rates, build their own recurring customer base, and offer additional services like deliveries or roadside assistance. Riders can review driver profiles in advance and choose the driver they prefer.

The majority of Arcade City drivers previously drove for Uber or Lyft. Top Arcade City drivers report earning two to three times more money than they earned with other services.

“Uber and Lyft treat drivers terribly, like numbers in an algorithm,” said Arcade City founder & CEO Christopher David. “To them drivers are just a temporary nuisance, to be replaced with self-driving cars at the earliest opportunity. They even hide that fact from the drivers. But drivers are beginning to wake up to reality – and actively search for an alternative.”

Filling The Void

Uber and Lyft abruptly withdrew from Austin, Texas in May 2016 after losing a high-profile lobbying campaign. In the resulting vacuum, Arcade City formed its peer-to-peer ride-sharing network, which quickly grew to 40,000 members. Riders and drivers in Austin communicate directly and coordinate rides with no corporate intermediary.

Arcade City Austin has become the world’s first self-governing ride-sharing network. It is managed exclusively by the local community with no day-to-day involvement from Arcade City headquarters. Arcade City Austin has given many thousands of rides every month for the past 14 months.

World’s First Profitable Ride-Sharing Company

Arcade City is the world’s first and only ride-sharing company providing reliable transportation to a major city with zero operating expenses in the region. Thanks to sustainable growth, Arcade City is on track to become the world’s first profitable ride-sharing company in Q4 2017.

Arcade City now launches its mobile app to help grow new peer-to-peer ride-sharing networks in countries all over the world.
